Greg Prince, author of David O. McKay and the Rise of Modern Mormonism, was here at USU today.  For those interested, I recorded the audio for both of his presentations. The first was delivered in front of Dr. Philip Barlow’s undergraduate Joseph Smith class, and dealt mostly with the writing of his book (from a historian’s perspective). Presentation #1 The second was more like a keynote, and dealt primarily with his main observations from his book about President McKay. Presentation #2 For those so inclined, please enjoy!

The Problem with Tolerance

The church has a history of high level leaders making sweeping pronouncements that are later deemed incorrect, speculative, or unauthorized, yet in each case, church leaders are reluctant to make public correction of those presumptions.  This tolerance sometimes results in dogmatic voices flourishing, drowning out those same tolerant voices that have graciously granted them access to the open mic.
